Background:
Brandelhorn is from the High Forest. He grew up as the second son of his family. The Clan chief was his father,
but because of his older brother
he was never destined to become chief himself. Then, about 10 years ago, he was forced to grow up fast when orcs
invaded thier homelands. He was taught to fight and sent unto the battlefield at the age of 15. The orcs were slow,
stupid and uncoordinated and were therefore easy to beat back for many years. Additionally, the Clan would fall
back and avoid many conflicts by simply giving up the land to the orcs. Not always was battle the best alternative
his father would say, as the Clan was small, just 84 members, and the attrition would surely destroy them.
However, as time passed the orcs moved closer and closer to the sacred groves of Skerrit. At last the Strongbow
Clan, aided by several other Clans including the Red Hunters (the largest Clan in High Forest) decided to stop
the orcs once and for all. Making a front just a mere mile outside of the sacred groves the battle ensued. Many
centaurs and orcs alike fell in battle but over the years the orcs had become stronger and more coordinated and
the battle turned to thier favor.
Eventually the call was sounded for retreat. Brandelhorn, with most of his Clan lying dead around him paused to
pick up Shynael from his father's dead
hands before fleeing, a move that almost cost him his life. An orc managed to cleave him with his greataxe just
as he was picking the bow off the ground. Still unsure how, Brandelhorn managed to fell the orc and escape with
his life and the bow. In his wounded state he became disoriented and just ran and ran until he finally collapsed.
A local woodsman and trapper happened upon him. Seeing his condition he knew he would have to get help soon and
took him to the local temple of Torm in the nearby village of Woodhill. There he was mended back to health by the
Cleric and has stayed unsure of what to do next. What is left of
his Clan is scattered with no homeland to return to, his father is dead, his mother and brother's statuses unknown.
He does know that he will someday need to return to determine thier fates though he fears what he may discover.
He also knows that the bow he carries, Shynael, the symbol of his Clan, must also be returned to his people, either
to his brother's hands if he still lives, or in his own as the new Clan chief, assuming there is even a Clan left
to lead.
First, however, he must pay the debt that these....humans ....have placed upon him through their kindness. Only
then will he feel free to return to
what remains of his homelands and his Clan.
Recent History:
Brandlehorn eventually discovered that much of his clan had been captured by orcs and ogres...including his father,
who survived near-fatal wounds but lost his right arm in the process. After freeing his kinsmen, the pull to return
to the Clan was strong. Brandlehorn eventually left to take over leadership of the Clan, and remains their leader
to this day.
